Dr. Goldner and Dr. Stephen N. Lang of the Duke resi dency staff presented a paper on "Transfer of the Biceps Brachii Tendon in to the Digital Flexor Ten dons." Gives Report James F. Glenn, M. D., attended a meeting Jan. 3 in Chicago to report on his trip to Saigon in regard to the Vietnam Medical School Project. Elected Dr. David C. Busse, chairman of the Department of Psychiatry, was leader of a group discussing "The Medical Student" at the Jan. 16-18 meeting of the Associa tion of Southern Professors of Psychiatry in Atlanta. Dr. Busse was guest speaker at the Joint Medical Speakers Program in St. Petersburg Jan. 30-Feb. 3. Takes Course Hiiey D. Barnett, instructor in the Division of Nuclear Medicine, participated in a course in nuclear medicine techno logy at the Oak Ridge Associated Univer sities in Oak Ridge, Tenn., Jan. 26-Feb. 1. Will Teach Warren Bird, associate director of the medical center library, will be teaching "Data Processing for Libraries" in the School of Library Science at the Univer sity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during the spring semester. Attend Meeting Dr. Joseph M. Malin, Jr., and Dr. John H. Grimes, senior assistant resident in urology, participated in the annual meet ing of the Adjuvant Bladder Cancer Stu dy Group in Miami Jan. 16-17. At Conference Mrs. Nancy Gallagher, staff occupa tional therapist, attended the Dec. 6-8 conference on "Management of the Spi nal Cord Injured Patient"in Miami Beach. The conference was sponsored by the Committee on Rehabilitation of the A- merican Academy of Orthopaedic Sur geons. Attends Meeting Miss Rebecca E. Owins, R. N., super visor of operating room nursing, attended a two-day meqting at Ethicon, Inc., in Sommerville, N. J., Jan. 7-8. invited Dr. David C. Sabiston, Jr., chairman of the Department of Surgery, has ac cepted an invitation to become a member of the editorial board of the Annals of Clinical Research published by the Fin nish Medical Society Duodecim. Gives Paper Miss Evelyn Morgan, head nurse on Minot ward, presented a paper on nursing the cancer patient at a recent workshop in Hickory. At AAOS Meeting Dr. Leonard J. Goldner served as moderator of an instructional course on orthopaedic management of lower extre mity in cerebral palsy at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Jan. 18-23 in New York City. Dr. Frank H. Bassett, asso ciate professor of orthopaedics, was a member of the panel. "The Impacted Fracture at the Base of the Proximal Phalanx of the Hand" was the title of a paper by Dr. Ralph Coon- rad, assistant clinical professor of ortho paedics, and Dr. Mark H. Pohlman, ortho paedic fellow, at the AAOS meeting. Attends Meeting Dr. Thomas Cate, associate professor of medicine, attended the meeting of the Southern Society for Clinical Investiga tion Jan. 31 in New Orleans. Visiting Professor Dr. Blaine S. Nashold, Jr., associate professor of neurosurgery, is a visiting professor at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. He will deliver the annual lecture to the Cincinnati Medical Society later this month. At Workshop Nancy Burris, head R. N. on Reed, and Flora Smith, head R. N. on Halsted, attended a workshop in Kinston spon sored by the North Carolina State Nurses Association. The workshop was designed to orient association officers to their new duties. Miss Burris and Miss Smith were recently named co-chairmen of the membership committee for District II. (continued on page five) $
