‘professional news people on the move New Fellow Dr. John A. Goree of the Department of Radio logy, was named a fellow of the American College of Radiology at the annual meeting of the group Feb. 21. Fewer than 1,200 of the 7,000 members of the college have been awarded the degree of fellow. Gives Lecture Dr. Ewald W. Busse, chairman of the Department of Psychiatry, delivered the annual Stoneburner Lecture at the Medi cal College of Virginia in Richmond Feb. 21. He spoke on “The Aging Patient." Panel Moderator Dr. James B. Wyngaarden, chairman of the Department of Medicine, served as moderator of a panel discussion on thy roid disease at the Watts Hospital Sym posium in Durham last month. Speakers Dr. James F. Glenn, chief of the divi sion of urology, was guest speaker at the Sixth Annual Obstetric and Gynecologic Visiting Professor Program of the Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Fla., Feb. 7'8. Dr. Roy T. Parker, chairman of the Department of Obstetrics-Gynecology, was the visiting professor. Orthopaedic Visitors Mr. Peter Ring of London, a developer of a total hip replacement prosthesis, was a guest of the division of orthopaedics Jan. 25. Also a guest of orthopaedics was Dr. Leslie Meyer of Greenville,'S. C. Dr. Meyer was at Duke under the auspices of the V. A. Lecture Program on Feb. II. To Deliver Paper Dr. Magdalena Tieffenberg, sponsored by Dr. D. C. Tosteson, chairman of the Department of Physiology-Pharmacology, delivered a paper entitled "Concentration and Potential Dependence of Cationic Selectivity of Thin Lipid Membranes Containing Monactin-Dinactin" at the Biophysical Society Meetings held in Los Angeles Feb. 26-28. Attends Meet Dr. Saul Boyarsky of the division of urology, attended the meeting of the Society of University Urologists in Chi cago Feb. 9. At Program Huey D. Barnett, an instructor in the division of nuclear medicine, participated in a colloquium on nuclear medical tech nology training at the University of Cin cinnati Medical Center Feb. 28. Research Noted Reference to research on algae by Dr. G. R. Klintworth and associates, in the Department of Pathology has been noted in a recent issue of New Scientist. Dr. Klintworth has considered the possibility of alga infection under pecu liar body conditions. Prior to his dis coveries, only one case of disease result ing from an alga had been recorded. Meeting Here The Triangle Orthopaedic Meeting was held at Duke Feb. 19. This organization is a cooperative effort of the divisions of orthopaedics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and at Duke and a group of orthopaedic surgeons from Raleigh. The group meets four times a year. Visitor Dr. Tang Nhlep, assistant professor of urology of the faculty of medicine at the University of Saigon Medical School, will be a visitor in the division of urology until June. Visiting Professor Dr. James B. Wyngaarden, chairman of the Department of Medicine, will be visiting professor of medicine at the Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Tex., during the month of April. To Give Paper Dr. Camillo Peracchia, research asso ciate in anatomy, will deliver a paper titled "Transverse Tubule System in Cray fish Axions" at the annual meeting of the American Association of Anatomists Ap ril 1-4 in Boston. New Positions Dr. James F. Glenn has accepted a position as a member of the editorial board of Urological Survey published by the Williams and Wilkins Co. of Balti more. Dr. Glenn was also inducted into the Society of University Surgeons at the annual meeting of the group in Miami Feb. 13-15.
