20 AV Promotes 2 Two promotions in the division of audiovisual education have been announc ed by Director Sam A. Agnello. Wayne C. Williams, coordinator of medical photography since 1966, has been promoted to assistant director of the division. He will retain his former title until another coordinator can be selected. Mr. Williams, a graduate of the Univer sity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B. A. degree in zoology, formerly work ed as a medical illustrator with Dr. J. E. Markee of the Department of Anatomy. Michael E. Wayda has been promoted to coordinator of medical television in the division. He had formerly been assoc iate coordinator. Mr. Wayda earned his master's degree in communications at the University of Florida. Given Research Grant Dr. Myron L. Wolbarsht, professor of ophthalmology and director of ophthal mic research at the Medical Center has been awarded a $2,000 grant from the National Society for the Prevention of Blindness, Inc. The grant will enable Dr. Wolbarsht, in collaboration with Dr. P. P. Lele of the Department of Experimental Medicine at the Massachusetts Institute of Technolo gy, to investigate whether ultrasonics can be used to disrupt retino-vitreous adhe sions that often form in adults. Such ad hesions frequently cause retinal detach ment and blindness. The grant is effective for one year, Lang Gets Fellowship A Duke resident in orthopaedic sur gery has been appointed to a six-month clinical fellowship by the United Cerebral Palsy Research and Educational Found ation, Inc. Dr. Stephen Lang, who begins his fellowship October I, will work with spe cialists in the field of cerebral palsy both at Duke and at the N, C. Cerebral Palsy Hospital in Durham. Dr. Lang came to Duke after earning his M. D. from the University of Illinois and serving his internship at Cook Coun ty Hospital in Chicago. More than 120 persons, including many deans and assistant deans of schools of nursing, attended from 70 colleges and universities in 35 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Dr. Kathryn Crossland, a professor in the graduate division of the Duke School of Nursing, was one of the principal instructors. Miss Patricia A.
