Mack Will Resign In October George H. Mack, assistant director of the hospital since February I, has resigned to accept a position as associate admini strator at the University of Arizona Hos pital in Tucson beginning October 6. No successor has yet been named. Mr. Mack began his career at Duke as an administrative assistant in 1967. He served as an administrative associate from July, 1968, until his appointment as assist ant director early this year. A native of Detroit, Mr. Mack earned his A. B. degree in history at the Uni versity of Michigan in I960 and then stud ied business administration at Wayne State University. Steiner MOPC Manager The Medical Outpatient Clinic has wel comed a new manager, Kenneth J. Stein er. Mr. Steiner, 33, originally from Mo bile, Ala., received his B. S. degree in ed ucation in I960 at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. Prior to coming here, Mr. Steiner was employed by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Durham. In November of 1968 he was married to Emily Mitchell, a staff nurse in the operating room. Mr. Steiner's hobbies include horses, hunting, fishing and gardening. Cardiovascular Division Gives l^Day Seminar The Department of Medicine's cardio vascular division will present a one-day seminar on diseases involving the heart valves September 24 at the Medical Cen ter. The purpose of the program is to give busy internal medicine and cardiology specialists a current overview of some diagnostic and treatment procedures em ployed in valvular heart disease. Special emphasis will be focused on the use of surgery. Visiting professor for the session will be Dr. W. Proctor Harvey, professor of medicine and director of the division of cardiology at Georgetown University Hos pital in Washington, D. C. Ten professors in the School of Medi cine here will make up the rest of the workshop faculty. Dr. Henry McIntosh, chief of the cardiovascular division, is co ordinating the program which will begin at I p.m. and end at 9:45 p.m. Physicians from throughout the Vir ginias and the Carolinas are expected to attend. PCA’s Elect Officers The newly created PCA organization has announced the names of its officers. President is Bill Swain of Cabell ward; vice-president is Geraldine Lunsford of the recovery room; secretary is Mary Barbee of Howland ward and assistant secretary is Diane Evans of the recovery room.
