Eighty-nine students from 21 states, the District of Columbia and two South American countries make up the fresh man class of the Duke University School of Nursing. The women are the second class to participate in Duke's new curriculum for nursing which includes two years of class- work in the liberal arts followed by two years of professional nursing courses. Formerly students took some nursing classes in their freshman and sophomore years. Students in the new program may elect to concentrate in one specialized field of nursing or take training in several areas. The four-year course leads to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
