Auxiliary Holds Membership and District Meetings The Duke Hospital Auxiliary partici pated in the District 4 meeting in Dur ham and sponsored a membership meet ing this month. The District 4 session of the N. C. Council on Auxiliaries was held October 9 at Blair House. Main speaker was Dr. John Altrocchi, professor of medical psychology at Duke, talking about "Mental Health, Problems in Living and Prevention of Self-Des- tructive Behavior." The afternoon meeting of auxilians' from the district heard a discussion of their possible roles in the care of the aged in hospitals by Dr. John Nowlin, assistant professor of community health sciences. The yearly membership meeting of the auxiliary was held October 22 at the Graduate Center. Featured speaker for the meeting was Nancy Coble, a participant in Duke's Project Nicaragua. Miss Coble is a junior history major at Duke. During the business part of the meet ing, the auxiliary approved the slate of officers for 1970. Beginning next month. Intercom will revive a series on the men for whom the hospital wards were named. The series was begun in 1966 and seven of the men's biographies appeared. We will continue where the 1966 articles ended and possibly reprint those seven already done at the end. Next month's issue will feature Harvey Cushing.
