At Section Meeting
Dr. Paul Ebert of the Department of
Surgery and Dr. Nicholas Georgiade of
the division of plastic, maxillofacial, and
oral surgery, presented papers at the
sectional meeting of the American College
of Surgeons in San Juan, Puerto Rico,
February 24-28.
Dr. Ebert talked on "Surgical Manage
ment of Complex Cortgenital Heart Le
sions" and "Current Concepts in the
Management of Shock."
Dr. Georgiade's paper involved "Acute
Management of Maxillofacial Injuries."

logy Society at the VA Hospital January
21.
To Speak
Dr. Joseph A. C. Wadsworth, chairman
of the Department of Ophthalmology,
will be guest speaker at the postgraduate
convention of the American Academy of
Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology in
Portland, Oregon, later this month.
At Meetings
Dr. Pauline Gratz, professor of nursing,
will talk on "Maintaining a Supportive
Physical Environment for Man: How the
Schools May Help" at a world conference
on education March 11 at Asilomar on
the Monterey Peninsula of California.
The conference, scheduled from March
5 to 14, will be sponsored by the Com
mission on International Cooperation in
Education of the Association for Super
vision and Curriculum Development.
Dr. Gratz will also present a paper on
"A New Look at Science for the Health
Professions" at a meeting of the National
Science Teachers Association March 13-
17.
Visiting Professor
Dr. Raymond Massengill, director of
medical speech pathology, was visiting
professor recently at Auburn University.
He spoke on the Duke Summer Speech
Camp and on research being done at Duke
in medical ^eech pathology.
At Council Meeting
Miss Helen McLachlan, acting director
of dietetics, and Miss Elaine Waller, also
of the department, attended a Dietetic
Internship Council mid-year workshop in
Cleveland February 22-26.
At Course
Dr. J. Leonard Goldner, chief of the
. division of orthopaedic surgery, partici
pated in a postgraduate course sponsored
by the University of Colorado in Denver
February 16-21. His topics included
tendon and nerve injuries of the upper
extremities.
Attends Course
Mr. Bill Schmidt, physical therapist,
attended a two-week course in Lower
Extremity Prosthetics for therapists given
by New York University's Post-Graduate
Medical School February 9-20.

Bobby Gooch of the department of
prosthetics and orthotics attended a five-
day seminar on Advanced Fitting of
Below Knee Prostheses at the North
western University Prosthetic Center in
Chicago January 19-23.

Dr. William D. Bradford, assistant
professor of pathology, will present two
papers at the Pediatric Pathology Section
of the American Association of Patholo
gists and Bacteriologists meeting in St.
Louis March 7-10.
Dr. Bradford will speak on the "Sub-
cellular Aspects of Iron Storage and
Toxicity" and "Pediatric Pathology for
Medical Students in the Core Curricu
lum."
