Dugan, May, McKiver, Brown Personnel Announces Four Changes A number of changes in the staffing structure of the Medical Center Personnel Office have been announced by Robert C. Tuthill, Medical Center personnel director. They include appointment of a new assistant director and promotion of three other persons. The new assistant director is Eugene Dugan, who comes to Duke from Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was director of employe relations. Mr. Dugan, 37, a native of West Virginia, was an education supervisor and teacher in Cincinnati and a wage and salary analyst at Jewish Hospital there before joining Bethesda Hospital. He holds a B.S. degree in education from the West Virginia Institute of Technology and has done graduate study in administration and supervision at the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University. He and his wife, Carole, live at 109 Radcliff Qircle. As assistant director of Medical Center personnel, Mr. Dungan succeeds Cecil McClees, who accepted a new position as administrative assistant in the Department of Anesthesia. Mr. McClees, a Duke employee since 1965 when he came here from the N.C. Employment Security Commission, had served as assistant director twice. In between he had been employe relations supervisor for the university. Other personnel changes announced by Tuthill include these: * George May has been promoted from personnel assistant to employment manager. As employment manager he also will assume functions in nurse recruitment previously performed by James Smeltzer. Smeltzer left to become employment manager for Burroughs Wellcome Co., a pharmaceutical firm, in Research Triangle Park. Mr. May, 38, a native of Pittsboro, N.C., received a bachelor's degree in industrial relations at the University of North Carolina. Prior to coming to Duke he was an associate general agent for Minnesota Mututal Life Mr. May's wife, Nancy, is comptroller for Security Savings and Loan Co. * Willard McKiver Jr. has been promoted from patient care assistant III to personnel assistant, replacing May. A native of Greensboro, Mr. McKiver, 26, earned a bachelor's degree at North Carolina Central University in Durham. He has worked at Duke since August 1967. Mr. McKiver's wife, Annie, is a housewife and student at North Carolina Central. * Miss Susan Brown, formerly an employment interviewer for the personnel department, has been promoted to wage and salary analyst.
