NEW DIETITIANS—l\Ne\\ie women will complete a one-year dietetic internship at Duke later this month. The internship program, which includes both classroom and practical training, qualifies each of the students to take the registration examination of the American Dietetic Association. Belmaker, an intern in pediatrics at Duke University Medical Center, has been awarded a scholarship from the Allergy Foundation of America. The award is $750. She completed the research this spring with the staff supervision of Dr. Rebecca H. Buckley, assistant professor of pediatrics and immunology. The foundation sponsors scholarships to permit promising medical personnel the opportunity to spend several months in allergy research and clinical training. Title of Dr. Belmaker's project was "Study of the I n Vitro I mmu ne Response of Peripheral Blood Lymphocytes to Allergens." Dr. Belmaker, who began her internship at Duke earlier this summer, is a native of St. Louis. She is a graduate of Radcliffe College and received her medical education at Duke. A NEW MATERNITY WARD?—0$\er ward took on the added duties of delivery suite and nursery a few weeks ago when a mother pigeon gave birth to this pudgy offspring in a nest she built on the patio right outside the ward door. The Osier staff played babysitter for the young pigeon until it was able to fly off and take care of itself, (photo by Dave Hooks) Dr. Saul Boyarsky, professor of urology since 1963 and former director of rehabilitation at the Medical Center, has been named professor and chairman of urology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. The appointment was effective last month. In St. Louis, he also serves as urologic surgeon and chief at Barnes Hospital and consultant and chief of urology at both the Jewish and the Cochrane Veterans Administration hospitals. Dr. Boyarsky will continue his research bn ureteral and bladder pharmacology and physiology in his new post. He is a 1944 graduate of the University of Vermont and received his M.D. degree there in 1946. Dr. Boyarsky served his internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and did residency training in urology at Duke from 1950 to 1954. Dr. M. Paul Capp, associate professor of radiology at Duke since 1966, has been appointed professor and chairman of the Department of Radiology at the University of Arizona School of Medicine in Tucson. His appointment was effective earlier this month. Dr. Capp, 40, has been director of the diagnostic division of the Radiology Department here for the past three years. He was named assistant professor of pediatrics in 1968. A 1952 graduate of Roanoke College in Virginia with a bachelor's degree in physics, Dr. Capp did graduate work in physics at Duke from 1952 to 1954. He then began study at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and received his M.D. degree there in 1958. He served both a pediatric internship and residency in radiology at Duke.
