Dr. Harold P. Erickson was appointed
assistant professor of anatomy, while Dr.
Jan Bergeron and Dr. Matthew Cartmill
were promoted from associate in
anatomy to assistant professor.

were both appointed assistant professors.
Dr. Dietolf Ramm, an associate in
community health sciences, was
promoted to assistant professor in the

veterinary medicine was named assistant
professor.
Six persons were named assistant
professors in the Department of
Medicine. They include Dr. Jeiome A.
Feldman, Dr. Jacqueline C. Hijmans, Dr.
Charles Johnson, Dr. Patrick A. McKee,
Dr. Steven H. Quarfordt, and Dr. Jesse E.
Roberts.
In the Department of

Appointed assistant professor of
physical therapy was Eleanor F. Branch.
Dr. James C. Maloney was appointed
assistant professor of physiology.
Mary W. Headrick was appointed
assistant professor of medical psychology
in the Department of Psychiatry.
The Department of Radiology
appointed William H. Briner assistant
professor.
In the Department of Surgery, Dr. H.
Newland Oldham, Jr., and Dr. Samuel A.
Wells, Jr., were named assistant
professors. Dr. Per-Otto F. Hagen was
appointed assistant professor of
experimental surgery, and Dr. Benjamin
L. Allen, Jr., was named assistant
professor of orthopaedic surgery.
A talk by Dr. Samuel L. Katz,
chairman of the Duke Department of
Pediatrics, and the election of officers
were the'highfights of the Duke Hospital
Auxiliary's annual ’ membership meeting
October 29 at the Graduate Center.
Dr. Katz' who spoke on "Progress and
Problems in the Care of Children at Duke
Hospital," explained the growth of
recreational therapy and social service for
pediatric patients over the past two years.
He added his intentions to work
toward establishment of a program in
adolescent medicine at the Hospital.
"We've made progress in certain areas,
and we're very pleased," Dr. Katz said.
"We think that caring for our patients
rather then just treating them has made
pediatrics a truly attractive field."
Mrs. Evelyn Maddox, president of the
Auxiliary since January, was elected for
Pediatrics
Becky Glenn and her husband Walter
adopted a daughter Kristen Leigh on Aug.

Richard Goldner has resigned from Dr.
Brumley's service to attend Duke Medical
School. . .Doris Morgan has resigned as
Dr. Brumley's secretary to attend Nursing
School at Watts Hospital. . .Resigning as I
assistant in Dr. Brumley's service is Mrs.
Faye Williams. . .Melvin Hinton has resi
gned as a research tech III to work for
Burroughs Wellcome. . .Brenda Stocks, a
technician for Dr. James Sidbury, has also
resigned to join Burroughs Wellcome. .
.June Haulk transferred to Medicine as a
social worker. . .She was previously Dr.
Sidbury's secretary. . .Rebecca Denny, re
creational therapy assistant, resigned to
go back to school.
