Hagen was appointed assistant professor of experimental surgery, and Dr. Benjamin L. Allen, Jr., was named assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery. A talk by Dr. Samuel L. Katz, chairman of the Duke Department of Pediatrics, and the election of officers were the'highfights of the Duke Hospital Auxiliary's annual ’ membership meeting October 29 at the Graduate Center. Dr. Katz' who spoke on "Progress and Problems in the Care of Children at Duke Hospital," explained the growth of recreational therapy and social service for pediatric patients over the past two years. He added his intentions to work toward establishment of a program in adolescent medicine at the Hospital. "We've made progress in certain areas, and we're very pleased," Dr. Katz said. "We think that caring for our patients rather then just treating them has made pediatrics a truly attractive field." Mrs. Evelyn Maddox, president of the Auxiliary since January, was elected for Pediatrics Becky Glenn and her husband Walter adopted a daughter Kristen Leigh on Aug. 14. Mrs. Glenn works for Dr. Alexander Spock. . .New secretary to Dr. Rebecca Buckley is Margaret Goodnight. . .Gail Migher is the new secretary to Dr. George W. Brumley, director of newborn services. . .Winona Robertson, now working for Dr. Sidbury, transferred from psychology. . .Jeanette Guthrie transferred from Surgical PDC to Pediatrics. She will work with the Crippled Children's Program.
