4 ‘DO I HEAR S225? $250?' — An original 'Doonsbury" cartoon by Gary Trudeau is shown by Patti Jarboe during the recent Phi Kappa Psi Celebrity auction on campus. When the bidding was over, the cartoon sold for $225, topped only by a basketball autographed by Duke's 1978 NCAA finalists. The basketball went for $250 and is shown with new owner, Laurie Giesen and her parents, Richard A. and Jennine Giesen. Meanwhile, auctioneer and Phi Kappa Psi vice-president Jeff Thompson calls for bids as Lisa Kirkman displays an autographed album by Perry Como, a strong supporter and friend of Duke's medical center. Proceeds of the auction support children's cancer research at Duke. The auction originated in 1975 after the death of a member of the fraternity who was stricken with leukemia.
