Two RAM players were named to the All-Tournament Team, Robert Hurley (first team) and Larry Dailey (second team). Southeastern received its first trophy In its basketball listory by winning the consolation game. SOUTHEASTERN-SANDHILLS According to Coach Joe Nance, “Southeastern played a very good first half and had a two point lead at half time, but poor shooting (35%) and bad ball handling led to a downfall in the second half. Glenn Allen was lost by injury in the first half and this hurt cur rebounding.” Sandhills went on to win the tournament by defeating Metho dist College Frosh, 96 - 77. SOUTHEASTERN-CMA This game was close all the way and Southeastern trailed 28 - 26 at the half. The Rams also In Tournment In Second Game SPORTSCOPE By RONNIE BARDEN Have You Heard ? We shot a lot better (43%) and made far fewer mistakes than on the previous night. It was a real team effort in that we had four Beauties Boost The Team The cheerleaders of SCC want to thank the students attending the basketball games for their support. However, the students attending are only a small part of the entire student body, so let’s everyone do their part in rousing the team and the school’s spirit and let’s cheer the Rams on to victory. The cheering squad is made up of six loud-mouthed members. Linda Garris alias Sam, and Sherry (Streach) Potter are the sopho mores and in the College Parallel program. Linda Garris is from Lake View, S. C. She is on the newspaper Staff, and treasurer of the Student Government, and Fine Arts Com mittee. , Sherry Potter is from Gulf, N. C. and has been chairman of many of the dance committees. The remaining cheerleaders are freshmen and in the college Parallel program and Business Administration. Janice Little of Lake Waccamaw, is the chief of the squad and is a reporter on the newspaper staff. - Vickie Barnes, a freshman is from Shallotte, N. C. vicKie ^ responsible for the fabulous Christmas BalL She is also a member of the newspaper staff, and the Fine Arts Committee. Jenny Singletary is from Clarkton, N. C. where she was a fo cheerleader in high school. . ^ n Polly Arena’s home is in Durham, N. C., where she w high school cheerleader. ^ , .. . . The cheerleaders plan to have a bonfire before the last game and also a parents night. “Please yell when you come to the tH^ipaders that you’re behind them all the way,” said all the che boys on double figures,” said Coach Nance. “Robert Hurley had two real good nights, probably his best of the season. He was a real leader both nights in shooting, defaise, and ball handling. Jim Burris also looked real good both nights on defense. Jim Foyles was a good playmaker and Larry Dailey's shooting was off but h had two exceptional nights on the boards,” added Coach Nance. Scoring for the Rams in the Sandhills game were Burris (15), Dailey (12), Hurley (24), Foyles (6), Hargrove (8), and Mills (2). In the CMA game it was Burris (15), Hurley (19), Dailey (14), Hargrove (12), and Foyles (5). For those of you who don’t know, SCC has a basket ball team. As a matter of fact, they have a good basket ball team. They are called the Rams. And they also play basketball. They have a coach named Mr. Nance. They al so have a manager named Josh. The team members are: Jim Foyles, Royce Odom, Glenn Allen, Stewart Smith, Phil Mills, Eddie Gore, Robert Hurley, Franklin Hargrove, Jim my Burris, and Larry Dailey. These boys pratice several times a week and usually have a game twice a week. When they have a game, they play very hard. The boys have a lot of spirit. BUT!! What about you, the students? Where is your school spirit? Did you leave it at your high school or at your girl friend’s house? It is very evident that you don’t use it to back the Rams. Sure the team has a 2-5 record, but they did it on their own, not with your support. May be if you could spare the time to support the boys they might win a few more games for YOU! The few, the very few students that have attended the games know that our team is great. These are the ones who don’t laugh when they see a poster announcing that the Rams have another game. The choice is yours, be proud of your college and your team and support both, or stay in your dark comer and do nothing. JOSH PLAYS BALL Josh Brisson, manager of the Rams basketball team, had his great chance when part of the team was late in arriving in the post Christmas vacation game with Sandhills. However he was not successful, so back to being manager for Josh. Intramural table tennis began this quarter and was very successful. This is the be^ turn out fori an in tramural yet.
