Of Southeastern
The Library is the heart
of the educational program
of Southeastern
Community College. Every
educational advance for
students and faculty
depends upon its resources.
Since the beginning in
August, 1965 the Library
has grown to over 30,000
well selected volumes
making it the largest
Library in the North
Carolina Community
College system.
Opportunity for students to
enrich their classroom
experiences may be found
in the many fine books, the
newspapers, the excellent
music of all types and
spoken word recordings, the
thousands of reels of
microfilm of newspapers
and historical records of the
community area.

The SOUTHEASTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE LIBRARY - The beginning for all students and faculty is the circulation- reference desk, creased
the Reference collection, the card catalog, and the periodical indexes. The. mastering of these tools should make Library usage easy.
Questions should be asked here at all times.
MICROFILM COLLECTIONS - SCC’s Library has made special
effort to provide students and faculty with microfilms of Columbus
County and Counties within our service area records. Much of the
New York Times newspaper and North Carolina newspapers printed
before 1900 are available for student and faculty use. In addition to
being able to read the films on the reader,it is possible to have
printed copies of each page of microfllm as Patricia Chavis is
demonstrating.
Circulation statistics show
that as the Library has
its collections
students and faculty
circulation year students
now circulate more than an
average of over 15
circulations per student this
past academic year . . . near
ly approaching the national
average for community
college students but not
nearly approaching the fifty
plus circulations for a good
four year college.
For the proper
exploitation of YOUR
intellectual resources, the
Library must be a
permanent habit of quiet
study, contemplation, and
probing for new solutions
to problems society now
faces.
CARD CATALOG - An index to the books, phonograph
records, tapes, and films is a good definition of the public catalog,
more often called the card catalog of any library. Mrs. Jeanette
Baxter, Reference Librarian, and Joyce Griffin, Library assistant, are
comparing notes on some of the phonograph records available for
students to check out at any time.
