Four MAROON AND GOLD September 30, 1921 DID YOU KNOW THAT Helen of Troy had re-d hair? Of the total number of 1,277 char acters in Shakespeare’s plays only 157 are females. Girl students have been admitted to the Virginia Polytechnic Institute thiS| fall for the first tim© in the history of the institution. The torrential that follows lightning is because the air is changed and can not hold its moisture. London still conains two buildings that witnessed the performance of Shakespeare’s plays during Shake speare’s life—the Middle Temple Hall and the hall of Gray’s Inn. THE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE | Past and prese-nt events all point to | the fact that the Christian college is America’s greatest hope for obtaining Christian leaders and workers. More than eighty per cent of the Christian leaders today, in all depart me-nts of Christian work, are men aniJ women who have had training in a Christian college. Moreover it has been showm that the remaining twenty per cent, however earnest they may be, are unable- to do as efficient work as those w'ho liave had college training. The success wliich several of the dif ferent Christian denominations have had in making drives for their colleges in dicates that the Christian people are* awakening to the importance and nec essity of Christian colleges. Past events have conclusively proved that the state colleges and universities, can be depended upon to furnish prac- | tically none of the Christian leaders and the time has now come when college trained Christian leaders are in demand in much greater numbers than the Christian colleges can furnish. There-1 fore, every Christian man or woman should feel it a privilege and Christian duty to study this Churcli problem and ^ to help the Cliristian .colleges in what ever way they can, whether by prayer, giving or earnest sentiment-making, that the gospel oT Christ may be spread throughout the world and Christianity be made known to all.
