Cabinet—Gives Details of Work Burlington, April 14.—Upon decis ion of the committee in charge of ar- I’angements, Burlington is to be the scene of eighth annual North Carolina State Intercollegiate Peace Contest, which will be held on April 21. Exten sive preparations are being made for greeting those who participate in this Pontest. It is expected that each of the seven colleges of the state will en ter contestants, and that the .Munici- Pil theater here will resound w'ith the youthful arguments for perpetual peace. Dr. F. S. Blair, w^ho is state manager, will accept applications for entrance from colleges of tlie state up until the it has been announced. Shuman, General Secretary of the Young Men’s Christian Associa tion in Buenos Aires, spoke to the stu dents and faculty in the auditorium Tuesday morning. Mr. Shuman spoke on “South Amer ica, the Country of Opportunity.” The speaker brought to his auditors stories of the life of a “Y” worker in the great countries of South America. There were many interesting details of the working of the Association in Buenos Aires. Mr. Shuman stated that their building in that great city aceommo' dateil 2,500 men and that there w'as a membership of 4,000. There are five secretaries from the United States and twenty-five native secretaries carry ing on this great work. It was inspiring to hear the great message that Mr. Shuman delivered. He is an able man as indicated by the powerful influence he has had in spread ing the gospel of the spirit, mind and body among the peoples of our neigh boring continent. ^ Mr. Shuman came at the request of the Y.
