ELON WINNER IN TENNIS MATCH WITH GUILFORD (Continued from Page One) Elou therefore won the match by the score of 50-20. On Monday the Elon team went to Guilford where they ouce more met their worthy opponents. With Coach Corboy along as umpire of the match Hainer and Atkinson defeated Merri- nian and Joycc without much difficulty. Both Atkinson and Hainer played poor tennis in the doubles match but came to the forefront without much trouble in the singles. Hook and Deskins after being nudged out of victory by a hair in the doubles, were easily defeated in the singles by their Guilford opponents. The results were: Atkinson and Hainer defeated Mer- riman and Joyce 6-3, 6-4. Harris and Reynolds defeated Hook and Deskins 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. Atkinson defeated Merriman 3-6, 6-4 and 6-4. Hainer defeated Joyce 6-2, 6-0. Harris defeated Hook 6-4, 6-2. Jones defeated Deskins 6-3, 6-1. The match ended in a tie 70-70.
