Wilson, librarian of the University of North Carolina making the principal address of the oc casion. This building is given over en tirely to library purpoae-s. The stack room is bnilt as a fire-proof vault and will accommodate 100,000 volumes. The second and third floors are given over to periodical and storage rooms and seminars. The Duke Scicncc building, which houses all the scionce laboratories was put in use in October. Within the next couple of weeks tlie Christian Education building, which will house all the social and religious activi ties of the college and the community, will bo completed. The finishing touches are now being put on this building, and the furniture will soon be ready for installation. This Christian Education building is unique, it being the only building of its kind oji any college cam pus in the United States. It is a lab oratory for the Department of Chris tian Education of the college, having provisions for a completely graded Sun day School, Junior Church, Week Day Religious Instruction, Daily Vacation Bible School, Boy Scouts, Camp Fire Girls, etc. 0]ily new' equipment of the best grade that could be securc-d has gone into these buildings. The music and auditorium building is equipped with a four manual Skinner pipe organ, an Eastey two-manual practice organ, Ma son and Hamlin and Kimball grands and uprights. The Southern Scliool ■ Supply Co., has supplied all the seat ing, the Kewaune’e and Peterson peo ple, all the laboratory furniture; the Leonard Peterson and Snead & Co., the library and stack furniture and equip ment. Elon’s growth has been phenominal in the history of North Carolina col- lege-s. Within a little more than a year she has more than doubled the phy sical equipment. The fire in January, 1923, took the heart of the institution, but less than two years later the whole college has been built anew on a scale five times greater than the old. With these added facilities Elon is one of the best equipped small colleges in the South, affording many opportunities that could not be- secured elsewhere. Nor lias the other interests of the col lege been neglected in the activities of eral new' departments have been added to the academic studies, and all the old curriculum en larged and expnnded. The endowment of the college has constantly increased, and shows a very substantial gain since the fire, running into hundreds of thousands of dollars. The college is ever reaching out to new and broader fields. The percentage of increase in the student body has this year been larger than at any time in the history of the college. of Flowers and finally to a palatial home in up-town New York.
