Especially when they come and spend four years licre, the merchants, citizens and those tliat perhaps live iiere for only a short time, liold the memory of the student in their minds, and feel better for hav ing known them. In my eighteen years that I have niade Elon College my home, I ha-ve been blessed with the memory of many pleasant friends that have been stu dents and teachers at Elon College. The students never realize how much tliey mean to the community, but the comnuinitv certainly knows what the students mean to it. when they depart for their homes elsewhere. Then the town is indeed a “quiet one,” so quiet that it is painful. There is so much of the beautiful in the world of ours, tliat it- is difficult to imagine what our lives would be without its influence. The same may be said of the students and their influence over us. If you are living at Elon College and are not get ting just the pleasure you desire, you certainly are not doing your part in trying to grasp the w'onderful environ ment here. If you will only glance aiound and observe just what is here to be thankful for and to enjoy, you v.'ill have something to keep you busy and entertained. We have noted lecturers here, speak ers rf renown, and entertainments of various kinds almost any time that you would care to be entertained. The com munity has an invitation to attend any st rvicea at the colloge; and a treat that contains food for thought can always be had at Elon College.
