ELON BATTLED WILLIAM AND MARY TO CLOSE SCORE (Continued from 1) first half. This considerably weakened the Christian team. At the end of the first half, the score stood 21 to 15 in favor of Elon. As the Virginians began to forge ahead in the second half, the play be came rather rough and the accurate foul shooting of the visitors gave them the winning percentage. Of their total score of 35 points, 15 points were scored on foul shots. Hamrick, lightning guard for Elon, was the shining light and played one of the best games of his career. He was a high scorer, ringing up 14 of Elon’s 28 points. history OF THE CLASS OF ’30 (Continued from Page 1) and Faculty meii^b^iiT'This gave every one a chance to become acquainted. When the ‘Sophs’ arrived our super iority dropped to the lowest ebb, when they soon proved to us that the ‘ ‘ 29 paddle and the Buck ‘3’ Club were prominent factors in Elon. November 2 was a national election day, and with it came the organization of the high-spirited class of ’30 ‘Jake’ Messersmith was elected president; Alma Kimball, vic-pres.; Nancy Lin coln, secretary, and D. P. Barrett. Jr., treasurer. The Numeral, ’30 was placed on the college tank to shine for the glory of the class; but it was soon swept away, and with it went a noble head of hair. Two of. the most significant boys’ clubs are: ‘The Stuck Up’, and ‘The Water Throwing Association;—These clubs keep the boys well refreshed and alert. In athletics we play a great part. We have two football, two basketball, and three baseball men, to represent the varsity team—our year being very suc cessful; and with great hopes for the coming year, we elected ‘ Lefty ’ Briggs to guide our class through the coming year. The new college year opened with several of oui* class missing, but others came in to take their place, and our ‘Purple and Gold’ is flying high with its followers striving hard to attain the highest ideals of life. September 25 we gave the ‘Freshies’ a, warm and hearty welcome tff our kingdom, but on account of restrictions the Buck ‘3’ Club, and the ’30 paddle were silent. Some of the Freshmen placed their ’31 on the college tank, but it was soon replaced by ’30. The ’31 supporters were so grieved that they lost their hair. The class is still representing the col lege w-ell in athletics and other activi ties. Kay Moses and Clyde Poushee are on the Maroon and Gold staff. They are also representatives on the Inter collegiate debating club. The clacc of ’30 is pressing forward, under the ‘Purple and Gold’ to attain the highest achievement. Our greatest desire is to blaze forth a trail that other students may safely follow. BUSINESS CLUB HELD ITS SECOND MEETING Washington Cafe Regular Dinner 40c Elon Students’ Center BURLINGTON, - . .
