Gertrude Brown, who is doing office ■work in West Palm Beach, Florida, writes her regrets that she will not be with us but w’ishes us the very best. This reunion, is open to any one who was a member of the class of 1918 in either of the four years, and w^e shall be glad to have as many of these members as possible and would care to co-me. Member of class 1918, if you have not sent in your name that “you are com* ing,” please send it to Lucile Johnston, High Point, X. C-, so that we may go on with our plans. The following will be at Elon Com mencement: F. C. Lester Dr. B. A. Wilkins, Lucille Johnston G. M. Eeid Mamie Pickard Leonard Wm. V. Auman Are U Coming? no doubt all of us wish for the] time to come when we may join this throng wliose souls drink of the beauties of Blue Ridge and in this worshipful at mosphere are drawn closer to God. It is a privilege to' mingle with these people in wholesome comradeship, with each and every heart attuned to the will of God. Each life must be dif ferent and be filled with a larger con ception and appreciation of life after having been to Blue Ridge. SHALL WE SEND DELEGATES TO BLUE RIDGE? SPORTS By Morris W. Carrow “Eed” Copelana wrote his father thnt Hoover was elected president of the United States. (Continued from 1) the campus next year. Would it not show in the lives of all here? Let every one of us do our part by paying what wo have pledged. Is_ that not fair? Those of you who have not pledged would never regret giving something; and with the co-operation of all much good can be ac(^omplished. Please let all consider this and forego a drink, a sandwich or piece of candy, if neces sary, to‘ pay our honest debts. May we keep these four thoughts in our mind: I OUGHT to pay, I CAN pay, I WILL pay; and before the week is over say, I HAVE paid. Let’s all work and boost for Blue Ridge. SUNDAY NIGHT SERVICES Blue Bidge. The Sunday night service was given over to Blue Ridge. Those whoi have been to Blue Ridge painted for us vivid v;ord ijictures of that inspiring place and filled us with a desire, yea, a long ing to go to Blue; Ridge some time—the sooner the better. After these talks from those who have been there and from others on ‘'Why I want to go to Blue Ridge,” Duj’ing Christmas holidays Clif Thomas asked the postmaster to for ward his mail to Box No. 58, Asheboro, X. C. Clif received no mail during that time. He hooked up old Beck to the buggy’ and went over to Asheboro and discovered that the R. F. D. service had been discontinued. Eskimos and flappers are alike be cause they are both ‘'lap landers.’^ We are pleased to note that Miss Mabel Michael is working very hard on her degrees. Both A. B. and M. R. S. C TENNIS With the renovating of the old courts and a new one being built, the wielders of the racquets at Elon are assured of a suitable background upon which to build a successful season. With the court tennis and racquet season drawing near very few of the students know of Eicon's prospects. For several weeks ■ now the men have been going through a series of elimination matches to de cide as to the personnel of the three I doubles teams w’hich w'ill form the varsity squad. So far there has not been any elimination contest to deter* ' mine the three representatives in the singles, but Coach Regan will likely select these men from the winners of the doubles. ' With the elimination tournament about over we are safe in saying that the team composed of Rountree and I "Puny” Hinton looks best. Hinton has the heighth and drive to look good ^ on the service, while Rountree co'vers * the net in a very creditable manner. The runners up would probably be the ‘ ‘ Flip ’ ’ Hunter and ‘ ‘ Red ’ ’ J ones team. Although woefully out of practice we would be safe in saying that they will improve in proportion to their practice. Both have oceans of natural ability but seem to be disinclined to' over exertion. The third place on the squad is still un- j determined, and lies between the team of Whitley and Newman and Loessie I and Hamrick. The former pair look ' good although Newman seems to have an uncontrollable desire to over-use the “cut.” The latter pair have the edge if Loessie can ever get over his attack ^oi spring fever. I Coach Regan has already scheduled two- matches w^ith Guilford for his “Lefty” Briggs and “Red” Smith Were Stars of Game. Harrington and Peeler Made Spectacular Catches That Thrilled Grandstand. The Christians defeated the Catawba Indians here Monday in a very slow game by the score of 7-1. Briggs performed for the Christians for five innings and allowed only one scratch hit. The initial inning was very interest ing, good ball being played by both teams. Three Christians went down via the strike-out route. The Christian’s first run came in the second frame when “Tobe” Crutchfield scored on Walker’s two-base hit, liowever, the latter was thrown out in the attempt to reach third. The Christians started their bombard ment in the third when Smith got on by a fielder’s choice. Harrington follow ed with a two bagger and Briggs fol lowed with a three-base hit, later scor ing on Sims’ sacrifice. Fowler took the mound for the Chris tians in the sixth. The first man up for Catawba got a clean hit over short, and scored later on Briggs’ error. This was the lone tally of the Indians. Catawbaj was able to garner only five bingles off the offerings of Fowler and Briggs. Miller, the Indian’s star-boarder, pitched stellar ball throughout the game, but had poor backing by his team mates. Safrit starred for the visitors in hitting, by getting three bingles. “Red” Smith, Harrington, and “Ot- nev” Briggs were th»^ batting stars fox the Christians. jiroteges: one here on May 11th, and the other at Guilford, May 16th. —Get It At— ACME Burlington’s Most Accommodat ing Druggists Opposite Postoffice BURLINGTON, N.
