Kxaminations! You know w'hat they
are. If you do'n’t, find out now. Hurry
it up, or else “woe is me!” This is
your warjiing and the time for ‘^sack
cloth and ashes.’’ I am not trying to
make you fearful; nor would I have
you to become unduly alarmed for your
scalp. You are your own true self aud
probably have an abundance of gray
matter in the “upper story.” But the
first word in this paragraph proves too
much for several individuals every year.
When the dust of the fray has settled
ai;d tlie spoils are divided impartially,
will you still be uuder the banner of
Maroon and Gold, or will you be only a
“has been”? A few more days are
loft for work and—a hint to* the wise
is sufficient.

A TRIBUTE TO DAD
Here’-s to the man that flirted with
mother,
Courted and won her in place of
another;
Loving and faithful, toiler of men,
Servant of Duty, and Honesty’s
friend.
Tn times of great suff’ring, sorrow and
sweat,
He’s stood by her side, and stands
by her yet.
The world may have lured him with
riches and fame.
But I’ve never heard him mention
their name.
My nature he trusted as long as he
could
And dared to support it with sound
Hickory wood.
These muscles he strengthened by labor
and play,
Insisting on something constructive
each day.
My future’s before me,—the race is
to run,—
The best that is in me is yet to be
done.
The eyes of the world may watch me
in vain
For something important to' come
from my strain.
But nothing can alter the deep-seated
nim
To honor and cherish my father’s
good name.
The highway of Progress these feet
may not press.
But here’s hoping the devil will have
to confess,
He’s failed to mislead me from father’s
old path
By cunning deceit ot unpardonable
wrath.
The passing of Time has turned his
hair gray
But Heaven and Hope have left his
heart gay.
I hope it is possible in ages to be.
My son will as justly think upon me,
Cherish my dream and labor to show
His children as honestly the best
way to go,—
For only by living do men learn to love
And measure their lives by standards
above.
A pound of honey is pro’duced by
the hard labor of over 500 bees work
ing throughout their span of life.
