in the North State loop. Alumni should watch this lad. He’ll be up there soon riding on the crest of a wave. Paul loves the game with an admirable sincerity, which, alone, should get him there. He has everything for the grandstand— dash, ability, alertness and a gan- uine competitive spirit. Incident ally, Paul’s the same Roye you read about during basketball season. He's a whizz on the hai-d- wood. Old Webb (Bull) Newsome real ly should not be omitted in this review. He’s a plenty good pitch er and not a bad outfielder Coach Walker has been using him at both places during this season- Webb has pitched several fine games, the most notable of which was the Elon-Wake Forest tilt which he won . . . And, he, too, made this year’s aJl-conScrence. And what Elon Baseball review would be complete without men tion of Mike Briggs, another "smooth” guy. Wike did his best work of the season during the last conference game here against Guilford- He, of course, won it as he did many others during the s^asda. Mike wrenched his arm muscle during mid-season, thus causing him to be shelved for few games—which, they say, kept him off the all-conference. Others, of course, decerve as much credit as onybody, but space simply won’t permit this time. There’s the famous Smith broth ers, Howard, the vet, and Hoke, the rooky. Howard was given honorable mention on the all- con ference as shortstop. Then there’s Bob Fowler, a dandy rooky, Hugo Minette, catcher, from Irvington, N. J., who made oil state high school and doubtless would have “gone to town" if Elon hadn’t had 8 great catcher. Lawrence Tuck, who fractured his leg early in the season to be shelved, deserves the entire col umn, but he knows the other guys deserve some space. Physicians port that Tuck will be okay by summei’. He’ll be back next year though, and should show rail birds more than ever. He and Howard Smith were Co-Captains of Elon’s conference winnig basketball out fit. dary education and also to col-| lege students who wish to earn | credits toward a degree or who wish to work off some of the re quirements for graduation. The living conditions at Elon College during the summer are ideal. Beautiful commedious col lege buildings, excellently equip ped laboratories, health envigor- ating summer breezes, and pure running water in all buildings afford ideal living conditions for study, recreation, and self-im provement. Many students in the surround ing counties can drive daily from home and save e.tpenses while se curing the best educational ad- vantages- For further information address the Director of the Summer Ses sion for a bulletin giving an nouncement of courses and other details of interest. W. C. Wicker, Director Summer Sessison. All the alumni will sympathize with Mrs. Roy Dixon (Nee Irene Golf) ’23 whose hpsband has been ill for the past six months. Bason and Bason Are ready to show you or tne ii/Ustern Virgmia associa tion. M. L. Patrick heads the High Point unit; F. F. Myrick is presi dent of the Guilford county asso ciation; W. D. Another defenite step forward was the mid-year meeting of the' Alumni association at Elon on Resume of Alumni Shows Advancement (Continued from page one) the association, a nominating com mittee was appointed to prepare this year a ballot containing the names of two alumni or alumnae for each major office. This slate has been sent to the alumni through the third and this, the fourth, issue of the MAROON ■eady at work. ^Tiat will be needed, and there 8 no reason why it shouldn't be operative, \vill be the support of the graduates and former stud ents of the college.
