The jiffair was one of the most bril liant events of the school year. The seniors met in the reception room of We.st Dormitory at 6:30 and then left for t!he Alamance hotel. The dinner started at 7:00. Charle« Jlolmes, president of the Senior Class acted a sitoastmaster. There were many interesting sp(M!Ches given among which were: ".My First Iniiirefisions of Elon,” by I.ianson fJranger; Siiortsmanship at Klon! -it’s developmenit.s and growth during the past four years, by "Tank" Nelson; The Annual by Ucbecca Smith; Athletic.s, by Webb ICewsom and la.st but not least of the speeches, "Social Dife at Ulon" very ably given by W. \V. The tli> most interesting ever given ut a dinner of Elon students. The theme of the evening was the voyage of the good tihip "Sen ior Class of ’36”. This ship was launched by the president of the cl.uis anl brought .safely to port by none other t.han Dr. .Smith. The d»tails of its journey were brought out in different speeches. The decorations carried out the senior colors of green and white \ery effectively. There were white sweet peas and wihite carnations with green fern and ivy, anA w’hiite candles. The effect W'a.s very' love ly. The favors were tiny shells nia.de into rfhips, souvenirs of Dr. ■and Ml’S. Smith’s recent trip to V'lorida. The menu w:us very de licious and- was served in four courses. After the dinner, tllie s^-niors were the gues-t of Mr. .Jack Aus tin, manager of the Burlington theatres, to see the picture, “A Tale of Two Cities,” which was being shown at the I’aramount theatre.
