ELON WILL MEET
MARINE ELEVEN
Opening Game
On Friday Niglit
Coach Jim Mallory
will unveil the 1949
edition of the Elon
grid machine here on
Friday night when the
Fighting Christians
meet the Air Force
Marines of Edenton in
the new Burlington
Stadium. Kick-off is
scheduled for 8 o’ clock.
The Elon football
squad has shown plenty
of power in early sea
son workouts, and the
prospects point to a
much stronger outfit
than that which wore
Maroon and Gold colors
in 1948.
coach Mallory has
24 lettermen back in
camp this fall, with
a number of freshmen
and transfer students
showing plenty of stuff
and pushing the old
men for positions. This
assures the Christians
more reserve power.

Hardy. Back row- Pate,

(Middle) Manzi and
E kk i n s .
(Lower Left) Front row-

wood, causey. Gentry.
Back row- Davis, John
son, Tingley, Lewis,

The probable line
up for the opening game
includes nine lettermen,
one freshman and one
transfer student. Savini
star fullback, is the
only man due to be out
of action due to injury.
New men likely to start
are Moffo at center and
Erickson at blocking
back.
The Christians had
no scat back last year,
but there are at least
three men on the squad
this season capable of
going all the way. This
means bigger and better
thrills for the students
