All of the group have been excellent students and have been active in various phases of campus life since enrolling at Elon. The group, chosen for acadcmic ability, campus citizenship,cam pus leadership and pro mise of future service in life, includes eight sen iors. One of the eight was also honored by “ vVho’s Who” selection as a junior last year. Brief sketches of each are given in alphetical order. KENNETH HOLLINGS WORTH -- A senior from Randleman, Hollings worth has been very ac tive in music, having been a member of the Elon Choir, Elon Quartet,Elon Band and of the Colle gium Musicale. He has also served as a SGA Senator, on the public re lations Committee and has played in Elon Player productions. MARCIA LUNSFORD— Also a native of Winston- Salem like her husband, Marcia Lunsford is vice- president of the senior class, a member of the SGA Senate and active in the Liberal Arts Forum. She is a member of Pi Kappa Tau Sorority. CAROL LUPINACCI — A native of Stamford, Conn., Carole Lupinacci was also honored by “Who’s Who” last year and the only one named a second time this year. She was secretary of her freshman class, a mem ber of the Senate, the Elon Singers, the Wo men’s Dormitory Council, the Statewide Student Le gislature, the Inter-Fra- lernity Council and has served on both the Spring Weekend and Homecom ing committees. She is a member of Pi Kappa Tau Sorority. LARRY MABE — A senior from Star, Mabe has been active in Stu dent Government Affairs, serving on the Honor Court and as chairman of the Freshman Orientation Committee this year. He is a m em ber of the F rench Club and of Alpha Pi Del ta. DALE MORRISON —A senior from Lynchburg, Va., Dale Morrison has been outstanding in Stu dent Government activi ties throughout his col lege years, and he was electcd last spring as president of the SGA for this year. He had pre viously been a member of the Senate and Honor Court and represented Elon in the Statewide Stu dent Legislature. RONNIE TUGWELL — A senior from Arlington, Va., Tugwell has been active in both Student Government affairs and In sports. He has been sec- retary-treasurer of his class and has served in the Senate. He has also played varsity baseball since his freshman year. He is a member of Kap pa Psi Nu Fraternity. SANDRA WRENN — A senior from Staley, San dra is also active in SGA affairs, serving as chair man of the campus board of elections, a member of the Honor Court and a member of the Religious Life Committee. She is also a member of the Or der of the Oak and the Bap tist Student Union and has served as a commence ment marshal. Elon Sophomore Fatally Hurt In Auto Wreck Near Campus John Anderson, 19- year old Elon sophomore from Aberdeen, was kill ed in an automobile ac cident which occurred on Saddle Club Road about one mile from the cam pus on Friday night, Octo ber 6th. His death came in a two-car collision which involved five other Elon students, with the com pact car in which he was riding cut in half by the impact with the other car. Young Anderson was one of four persons rid ing a new compact car that was moving west on Saddle Club road. The car, driven by James Warner, of Glen Olden, Pa,, and also occupied by David Bowden and Bruce Duncan, Elon students from Alexandria, Va., went out of control and skidded broadside in the path of the other car. The second car was moving east, driven by Paul Bleiberg, of Wil mington, Del., and also occupied by Andrew Mor ris, of Wadesboro,struck the smaller car on the right side and inflicted the fatal injuries on Ander son, who was reported dead on arrival at Ala mance County Hospital. The drivers of both cars were admitted to the hospital that night for observation and treat ment, with Warner re ceiving lacerations of the forehead and Bleiberg re ceiving a fractured nose. The other occupants of the two vehicles were treat ed for minor hurts and released by hospital au thorities. The compact car in which Anderson was rid ing at the time of his death was cut in half by the impact and termed a total loss with damages estimated at $3,000. The heavier automobile in volved in the crash had estimated $200 damages. John Anderson, the dead youth, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George D. Anderson, of Aber deen, and funeral ser vices were held at the First Baptist Church in Aberdeen on Sunday af ternoon, October 8th, with burial in Bethesda Ceme tery there. Special memorial ser vices were also conducted for young Anderson in Whitley Memorial Audi torium here at Elon at 10 o’clock on Tuesday morning, October 10th, with the Rev, John S, Graves, campus minister, officiating.
