Noble Marshall is the other Elon player, who is watching the struggles of Davis from his seat on the floor. (Time 0:40) People are passing the big showcase in the foyer of the Long Student Cen ter with new gleams of joy and some degree of surprise on their faces as they view the recent addition to the showcase. Yes, you have guessed it, the subject of the joy and pleasant surprise is the picture of the newest proposed building for E- lon College, a new struc ture that is soon to rise outside our so-called brick jungle.” It is a new and modern gym nasium which is destined to be of tremendous ben efit to Elon’s athletic pro gram. It is true that Elon has long had one of the lar- gest gymnasiums in the conference, but its size '*'as primarily provided for basketball crowds, and the new gymnasium pic- ^red in the foyer of the Student Center will do niuch to eliminate the crowded atmosphere of activites in the present Alumni Memorial Gym on Saturday and Sunday af ternoons. Everyone likes a little exercise, but everyone has the same idea at seemingly the same time, and this has presented a problem in the effort to crowd large numbers of boys playing basketball on the floor of the pre sent gym at the same particular time. The present juniors and seniors may find them selves at a slight disad vantage, for it is under stood that the new gym nasium will not be com pleted and ready for use until they have graduated, but the new structure will be a great benefit to the members of the current freshman and sophomore, who may get a chance to try out their muscles in the new facility. The new physical edu cation building will con tain a regulation size in door swimming pwol, all of which will eliminate the necessity to play in the naturally created wa ter holes around the cam- ^^^t will also furnish a new full-size gymnasium, (Continued on Page 4) Balanced offense which put five Elon men in dou ble figures paid off with a lopsided 92 to 73 tri umph over the Western Carolina Catamounts here at Elon on Satur day night, February 3rd, when the Christians hit a brilliant 60 per cent of their floor shots for the win. Pfeiffer Five Wins In Upset Cage Tilt The Pfeiffer Falcons broke away to an early lead and went on to up set the Elon Christians 82 to 78 in a Carolinas Con ference cage battle on the Falcon court on Monday night, February 5th. The Christians fell be hind in the early minutes of the battle and were forced to play a futile game of “catch-up” all night, and erratic shoot ing through much of the battle foiled all efforts by the Maroon and Gold quintet to overhaul the flying Falcons, who were showing some fantastic shooting. Harry Comer, Pfeiffer freshman, hit six straight shots from more than 30 feet out, as he led the Falcon scoring with 27 points for the night.Three other Falcon players were also in double fi gures, with Jim Burk hart hitting 18 points and Dwight Hinnant and Dwight Kincaid each banging in 12 points. The Christian cagers also showed four men in double figures, but it was case of too little too late. Henry Goedeck topped the Christian scoring with 25 points, most of which came in the second half.
