vin N. Artley, who is
professor of stringed mu
sic on the Elon music
faculty, will present its
annual spring concert in
Whitley Auditorium at 8
o’clock on Monday night
of next week.
The concert on Monday
night climaxes the fifth
successful season for the
College-Community mu
sical group, which was
formed in the autumn of
1963 through the joint ef
forts of Dr. Artley and of
Prof. Fletcher Moore,
chairman of the Elon mu
sic department and aca
demic dean of the college.
The orchestra is a joint
campus and community
effort, including members
of the Elon faculty and
student body and also mu
sicians from the Burling-
Lon com Ti unity area, in
cluding musicians of all
ages, the only require
ment being an interest in
the orchestra and orches
tral music.

classical and popular
fields.
The Elon musical
group, which has gained
wide acclaim for its per
formances as a marching
band during each Elon
football season, has gain
ed equal praise for its
concert work when it
takes to the stage for its
annual mid-winter and
spring concerts.
The program for the
concert next Thursday af

intermission between.The
opening portion will fea
ture “Thundercrest,” by
Eric Osterling; “Two 17th
Century Italian Songs,”
by Monteverdi and ar
ranged by Thomas Tyra;
“Prelude and Fugue”in A
Flat,” by Bach; and “Fi-
