Dr. Andrew M. Scott,
professor of political sci
ence at the University of
North Carolina, visited
the Elon College campus
on Wednesday night of
this week as the second
Speaker in the series of
lecturers sponsored on
the campus this year by
the Liberal Arts Forum.
A native of California,
Dr. Scott is a graduate
of Dartmouth College and
received the Master of
Arts and Doctor of Phi
losophy degrees from
Harvard University. He
is regarded as an out
standing scholar in the
field of international pol
icies.
He is a past president
of the International Stu
dies Association and has
taught asa Fulbright Pro
fessor at the Bologna
Renter of the Johns Hop-
Kins University in Italy.
He is the author of nine
t>ooks on American poli
tics and in his special
tield of American for
eign policy. He is also
the author of many schol
arly articles and papers

professional magazines

political science.

Greeks Announce 156 Pledges
After Annual Rushing Season
The nine Greek letter
groups on the Elon Col
lege campus announced
the names of 156 new
pledges following the an
nual fall rushing season
and after the “BidNight”
ceremonies which were
held on October 19th.
The four sororities
pleged 69 new members,
and the five fraternities
listed 87 new pledges.

vance which was held last
weekend.
The annual celebration
featured the talent show
Friday night, with its an
nouncement of the Home
coming Queen, the annual
parade, the beautiful dec
orations, the Elon-Ca-
tawba football game, two
dances on Friday and Sat
urday nights and musical
concerts by popular
groups.
The chief attendants
for Queen Barbara were
the four other finalists in
the special campus elec
tion that was held for the
Homecoming Queen. The
