SPECIAL EDITION : DECEMBER 9, 1969 S.G.A. PRESIDENT RESIGNS By A1 Zink A special meeting of the Senate was called last night, December 8, by Vice-President and Speaker of the Senate, Mr Lee Loy. Loy informed the Senate that SGA President, Mr. William Comninaki, had submitted his resignation of office. Loy said that Comninaki resigned for personal reasons. According to Article 4, Section 3, Subsection B of the Constitution, The Vice-President of the Student Government shall succeed to the presidency should that office become vacant.” Loy was then sworn in to the office of President. Elections for the office of Vice-President will be held Friday, Dec 12. Filing for office began immediately after the Senate meeting and will continue through Thursday. Campaign speeches will be held on Thursday, Dec 11; the time and place are indefinite. If a run-off election is necessary, it will be held on Tuesday, Dec 16. I talked with President Loy after the meeting; this was his statement. " I haven't really absorbed what has happened yet. My only goal is to serve the students of Elon College in the best way I know how. I want to work closely with the Senate, and consult the students on major problems concerning our campus." Loy's immediate plans ? "Our first task is to elect an able Vice-President and we'll proceed from there."
