Former Frat House
Is Demolished
Horton House, one -
time residence of two
College presidents, num
erous faculty members,
and a fraternity, was tom
down recently after Coll
ege officials decided that
the structure was no long
er safe.
The house, located at
the corner of West Coll
ege Ave. Williamson
Ave., was built in 1903
by Dr. P. J. Kernodle.
In 1940 the College ac
quired the house for fac
ulty apartments. Presi
dent and Mrs. L. E.
Smith moved in the house
in 1946 and were follow
ed 10 years later by Dr.
and Mrs. J. E. Danieley
when he assumed office.
For the past three or four
years the house had been
the official residence of
Kappa Psi Nu fraternity
and was named Horton
House in 1967 by the fra
ternity in memory of one
of its former members.
