The ad hoc committee on the intellectual life of the campus was voted into existence by the faculty on Oct. 7 when faculty, students, and dean of students office representatives were named. The committee, co-chaired by Dr. Allen Sanders and Dr. Gerald Fr^cis, has met many times since October, and this questionnaire Is one of its major projects. At this time, no conclusions have been drawn from the answers which will, however, be used in the report to be made to the faculty on the academic life of the college. TTie committee was charged with “the study of the state of student discipline and intellectual climate at Elon College — including, but not limited to, absenteeism from classes, quality of homework, student body value structure, faculty and student motivation and morde, and influences that facilitate and that disrupt the academic environment — and to make recommendations to the faculty.” Members of the ad hoc committee, in addition to Cochairmen Sanders and Francis, are John Atkinson, Tim Moore, and Janice Summers, students; Dr. Robert Blake, Dr. George Troxler, Prof. Janie E.
