The win over N.C. Wesleyan Monday boosted their record to 6-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference standings. At the start of the game, the booters came out blazing their opponents’ net with four quick goals. Never los ing control of the ball or game, they shut out N.C. Wesleyan 6-0. “This is the first time we controlled the ball and did not let the opponent control the play,” said Coach Steve Ballard. “Kevin McCauley, our goalie, played outstand ingly and has done so all year,” added Coach Ballard. Other players who did well in the game were Mike Curtis, the sweeperback and George Bakatsias, the center halfback. Eric Wigren’s leadership as a co-captain has also helped the team in settling down to play. Coach Ballard predicts that the team will make it to the district play-offs. Atlanta Rhythm Section Cancelled Nov. 1 majors, professors and other interested people by reading some of his poems and a story on Tuesday afternoon. “A meet the author” re ception was held before the reading when refreshments were served in the large lounge, Student Center. Dr. Brookhouse read sev eral of his earlier poems in cluding “The Wolves,” “The Finding,” “The Man in the Ocelot Suit,” and “Mobile.” He then read a short story entitled The Pilots. After his readings, Dr. Brookhouse responded to questions asked by the au dience. In his answers, he said that he is influenced mainly by movies and two authors — Norman Mailer and Flannery O’Connor. He said that writing poems is more tense than writing short stories because short story writing is extended over a period of time. Dr. Brookhouse is now working on another novel and teaching one course in creative writing at Elon.
