Page 8 The Pendulum December 6, I979 Girls lose heart breaker by Vkld Blankensliip The Golden Girls basket ball team split two games to put overall record at 4-1. Coach Mary Jackson’s squad defeated Wake Forest 77-46 to put their record at a 4-0 stand. Pacing the squad was Vanessa Corbett and Lou Williamson. The squad faced a tough High Point team Saturday at High Point and lost 74-64 putting their overall record at 4-1. The game was close until the Hnal three minutes when High Point held the ball forcing Elon to foul and play catch up. Leading the girls in this game again was junior Lou Williamson who sets the pace for the team and freshman Rhonda Cooper came off the bench to pull down some vital rebounds. In overall statistics, Nuggie Dixon is leading the scoring with an average of 21 points a game and a 9.1 rebounding average. Vanessa Corbett is averaging 19 points a game and 9 rebounds. Lou Wil liamson is averaging 12.6 points a game with an impressive record of 17 steals. Jeannie Hairston is averag ing 9.8 points with an average of 8.9 rebounds a game. The Golden Girls wiD travel to Atlantic Christian College on Saturday, Dec. 8, for a 5:15 p.m. match. Men defeated twice Coach Bill Morningstars’ Fighting Christian Cagers has lost two matches, putting their overall record at 3-3. The cagers traveled to High Point College Saturday and lost a close tough game 46-51. Monday they traveled to Mars HiU and again faced a tough opponent, losing that Wrestlers split two by Vicki Blankensliip Wrestling opened its season Wednesday by splitting two matches. The wrestlers de feated Pfeiffer 35-17 before falling to North Carolina A&T State 36-17. Double winners were Matt Brown (126), Mike Farris (177), and Tim Lawson heavyweight). In the Catawba tourna ment held Friday and Satur day, Mike Farrish finished first place in the 177 weight class to pace Elon. Saturday, the wrestlers will travel to Davidson College to participate in a tournament. game 63-75. Leading the cagers thus far is forward Lee Allison, aver aging 16 points a game and 4.5 rebounds per game. Greg Dawson, also a for ward, is averaging 11.8 points a game with a rebounding average of 3 per game.
