Mitchell, vice president for administration and finance at Tufts Uni versity in Medford, Mass., has been named vice presi dent for administrative serv ices at Elon College Mitchell will join the Elon staff on June 1 in the newly created position. He will be responsible for several ad ministrative functions, and will report to President Fred Young. Mitchell received an A.B. degree in economics and history from Dartmouth College, and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth. He has also taken additional courses at the University of Omaha, the University of Wisconsin, and Tufts University. He joined the Tufts Uni versity staff in 1958 as as sistant to the comptroller. In 1964 he was named comp troller and business officer before taking a similar posi tion at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. He returned to Tufts in 1966 as business officer and secre tary of the corporation. After serving as vice pres ident for business affairs, he was named to his present position in 1977. During the last four years at Tufts he established and managed a multi-school bud get development and control system for the school’s $70- miUion operation. He man aged a successful SlS-million tax-exempt bond issue and secured $6 million in federal cont. on p. 4 Dragos fills area coordinator job Carol Dragos is the new area coordinator for Virgin ia, Sloan, and West dorms. Carol’s job responsibilities as area coordinator include room changes, orientation of new students, taking care of maintenance problems in the dorm, advising and counsel ing, student emergencies; and helping students in gen eral. She attended Elon from the fall of 1975 to the spring of 1977 and was a resident counselor on the third floor of West during her second year here. In the fall of 1977 Carol transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she chose speech and communications as her major. During her time at UNC she gained experience in counseling. She volun teered to work on a tele phone crisis line which peo ple could call for advice. Carol also served as resident counselor at UNC before her graduation in 1979. Leaving UNC, Carol joined a drama company called the Covenant Players. This group traveled to var ious churches over the coun try to put on plays. Carol stayed with the players for a year and a half before re turning to North CaroUna and joining the Elon College staff. : Pictured is one of the five international casts of “Up Witli People” in performance. Staff Photo. Up with People tality, “choreography with a kick and staging with style,” and provides entertainment for all ages. “Up With People” is an international program. With 500 students in the cast, they are divided into smaller groups when travel ing abroad. Each group stays with host families, which adds to their educa tional background. Each host town provides them with a local sponsor who helps with extra expenses. Two main goals for “Up With People” are “to build by Belinda Peoples So, our world is involved in an energy shortage; “Up with People” disagrees. On March 28, at 8 p.m. “Up With People” will show us that “People Are Energy Too,” in the Burhngton-Wil- liams High School Auditor ium. “Up With People” is a nonprofit organization, not affihated with any religious or political group. “Up With People” consists of students from ages 18-25, who give an optimistic mus ical message entitled “Peo ple Are Energy Too.” Their show presents musical vl- cont. on p. 4 News Briefs These are some of the volunteers who manned the phonathon phones. April Fool Contest To promote school spirit and unity between faculty, administration and stu dents, the Society for the Advancement of Manage ment (SAM) is holding its annual “April Fool” con test. The contest will run from March 31-April 6 with the winner being announced during the April 7 College Program. Voting for the “Campus Fool” will be by votes wheie one penny equals one vote. The money raised from this contest will be used for a worthwhile business project. Greek Weekend Elon College will hold its annual Greek Weekend be ginning at 6 p.m. on Thurs day, April 9 and continuing until Sunday, April 12. Classes will be held on Fri day, April 10.
