Photo by Nader Hamidpour. by Vicky Jiggetts Staff Writer he Student Government ociation reviewed two dal reports, passed eight I, and inducted its new icers and senators in last irsday’s senate meeting. )he first special report )lved the survey on Elon College athletic facilities. The SGA would like to have some idea about the hours which students most fre quently use the pool, gyms — and tennis courts. The survey will be taken during cafeteria hours. The second special report discussed the Dining Com mittee meeting which was held on Tuesday, Oct. 5. This Halloween, a dinner will be held in McEwen Dining Hall. Students will be dressed in costumes and prizes will be awarded to the best ones. First prize will be $30, second prize $23 and third prize $10. cholarship nominee named 'f by Lookia Louka Newt Editor 'eresa Warren has been i!cted by the graduate dy committee to represent >n College in national npetition for the MarshaU lolarship. The Marshall lolarship is for study at ' college or university in gland. Varren is a senior English jor and has maintained a grade point average at n. She is also minoring in logy and journalism. Varren is the 1982 winner the English Scholar ard. She is a member of 'ha Chi and Omicron |ta Kappa honor societies, rren is secretary-treasurer Sigma Tau Delta and an jciate member of Beta a Beta honor societies. ^Varren is named to the ^ional Dean’s List and been on the Dean’s List Teresa Warren every semester at Elon. Besides these academic honors, Warren has been quite active in campus life. In 1980, she began working for the Pendulum as a reporter. The following year she served as copy editor. Last year, Warren was co editor of the Pendulum. During her editorship, the newspaper received All- American Honors, which is the highest honor a college newspaper can receive from the Associated Collegiate Press. Warren is a member of the Student Union Board, and is a member of the Teacher Education Commit tee. She is a staff writer of The Magazine of Elon, a writer for Elon College Pub lic Information Office and a lab assistant for general biol ogy and himian anatomy. She is also one of the founders of the Piedmont Triad Student Chapter/Int- temational Association of Business Communicators with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Currently, she is serving as vice president for that organization. Traditionally, the graduate study committee has chosen cont. on p. 12 Vice president Rodney Beebe initiated the first two bills and president Ted Reinheimer originated the last six bills. All eight bills were confirmed by the senate. Kyle Campbell introduced a bill to allow more students to participate in SGA pro jects. Many students who are not in the senate expres sed an interest in helping with projects. Although the “ex-officio members” will not have any voice in the senate, they will be appoint ed by the speaker of the senate and placed on various committees. Becky DoUiver introduced a bill to rename the food committee to the dining tee. April Buck introduced a bill to confirm the student life committee. The appoint ees, chosen by Reinheimer, are Diane Darty, Matt Payne, Ron Price, Tracey wiser and Steve Winfield. Loukia Louka introduced a bill to confirm the Student Communications Media Board. The appointees, chosen by Ted Reinheimer, are Charlie Addison, Ronald Dalton and Diane McSheehy. Mike Scott introduced a bill to support the United Way of Alamance County. The SGA will make a $200 donation to the United Way. Fred Applin introduced a bill to confirm the home coming committee, (Stu dent Activities Commission). The members appointed by Reinheimer are Laura Jo Weller, Lynne Fythe, Lori Clayton, Buck Fambrough, Cathy Spellman, Lisa Brincefield, Sheena Penn and Tom Merricks. Heidi Gross introduced a bill to confirm the associate justices. Reinheimer appointed James Bula, Tamara Cook, Charles Fambrough, Ire Credle, Ann Melvin and Maxine Hazel. Tracey Walser introduced a bill to confirm the attor ney general and the defense attorney general. Bassam Ibrahim will serve as defense attorney general, and Diane McSheehy will serve as attorney general. The new freshman officers are President Robert Mora- bito, Vice President Ray mond Covington, and Secre tary/Treasurer Gina R. Ash ley. Andy Davis was named senior class secretary/treas urer. Jeannie Sutton, Michael Roth and Doug Jeramyn were inducted as senators. 4 II Goin^ ^round in circles ANTI-SUITCASE weekend was an event that held many activities for Elon College students. The Marshall Crenshaw concert, Skip Castro Band and the Almost Anything Goes contest kept students busy from last Wednesday to Saturday night.
