The new section is called “Something’s going on” and it deals with movies, clubs and concerts in the Alamance County, Durham, Chapel Hill and Guilford County area. This section has been the results of staff members suggestions, some editorial work and lots of advice and work from the faculty advisor Bob Nowell. Now, after weeks of planning and thinking, last week the entertainment section became a reality. And we’d like your response to this new section. Preferably we’d like to have your reaction in the form of a letter to the editor, but if time does not permit this, be sure to stop by our office on the second floor of Long Student Center and tell us how you like (or dislike) the new section and what we could add to improve “Somethings going on.” We appreciate any response the staff receives on any article or editorial. It lets us know if we are really serving the Elon College students in the right way and what we could do to make the paper more informative and interesting to you readers. So please, if you have a thought or a response about one of our articles or editorials, write us a letter. And if you think the new section is good, write us and let us know. And even if you don’t think the entertaiimient section is ‘good and don’t like our coverage of on- and off-campus \events, still write us and let us know how you feel. \ The Pendulum prints all letters as long as they are not libelous. If the letter is over 250 words, we reserve the right to edit it for things other than grammar, punctuation and relulibility. But in no way will the meaning of the letters be altered. All leters must be signed and have a phone number at the bottom. '^nt» keep up support ? > j ay be rewarded yalt During this year’s basket ball season, Elon’s stud^ts have proven that, at least as far as supporting their teamA they are not just fair weath-\ er friends. Through a long \ season in which several of the basketball team’s leaders have not been able to play because of injuries, ailments and ineligibility, students have turned out in force to see the Fightin’ Christians play. With the Carolinas confer ence tournament being play ed here next week, their loyalty may be rewarded. Some of the basket ball the Christians have played has been in front of large enthusiastic crowds in Alumni Gymnasium. Sup portive crowds may help turn the tournament’s out come in Elon’s favor. This year’s tourney is j more than just a scries of basketball games. Groups on . campus and in the commun ity have worked long and hard to ensure that the tournament will be a success in every sense of the word. Members of the athletic department and the mainten ance crews have spent a lot of time making sure facilities are the best they can possib ly be. Local businesses are i helping to sponsor the event and have provided such things as food and rooming for the crowds drawn here by the tournament. The college has made the tournament more accessible to students feeling the finan cial pinch by offering dis counts to Elon students and employees. This year’s tournament is only the second ever to be played at Elon, the first coming in 1972. At that tournament, Elon supporters came out in droves. This year’s should be no diffW' ent. Not only will we have the opportunity to see Carolinss Conference basketball at its best, we also will have the chance to show other schools’ students and offici' als Elon CoUege at its best. The Pendulum welcomes letters, limited to 250 words, from our readers. Longer material may be submitted V opinion articles for page 3. Ekiitors reserve the right to edit for length, libel, good taste and accuracy.
