Some favor the prog ram and believe that Elon Col lege can offer a quality gradu ate program which will be attractive to traditional and non-traditional students. Others, however, do not sup port the program because they doubt the value of an MBA program to the college. The Pendulum has obtained the views of some faculty who sup port the program as well as the views of some who object to it. The faculty will vote on the MBA proposal at its monthly 'meeting at 1:45 p.m. Friday in Mooney Theater. Approval by the faculty would be the next-to-last hur dle the program would have to clear before being im plemented in the Fall Semes ter 1984. Final approval would have to come from the South ern Association of Colleges and Schools. If approved, the MBA would not be the first graduate degree offered at Elon. A master of arts degree was offered in the early twentieth century. “I have some doubts about the wisdom” of implementing the proposed program. Dr. Martha Smith said. “I feel we should concentrate on streng thening the undergraduate program before we turn our attention to a graduate program.” Smith, a professor ofEnglish, helped develop the new gener al requirements that have been introduced this year Im plementing these and the See MBA program page 5 Town elections set for next week By Rexanne Ayers Staff Writer The election for the town of Elon College is set for Nov. 8. Students should see advisers before preregistration Preregistration for Winter Term and the Spring Semester will begin on Nov. 9 and last through Nov. 18. Students are urged to meet with their advisers early, to discuss their academic program and select courses to be taken during Winter Term and Spring Semester. In addition to filling out the preregistration form, students should correct any information at the top of the enrollment sheet that is no longer valid. For any course taken on a “Pass/ Fail” basis or as an “Audit,” a card designating this must be completed. Before going to the Registrar’s office on reg istration day, each student must have a com pleted enrollment form signed by the advisor and completed cards for “Pass/Fail” or “Audit” classes. All seniors who plan on completing their course requirements for graduation at the end of the Fall Semester, Winter Term, or Spring Semester should have seen the Registrar by Oct. 31. Applications for a degree may be obtained in the Registrar’s Office. At the same time, students may pick-up a request order form for caps and gowns. The student must complete these forms and submit a payment of $22.50 to the Cashier’s Office. The student then returns the completed application form to the Registrar’s Office and arranges to meet with the Registrar to review his academic records. Happu lOOth!
