How long is this going to take?
Santa Claus looks slightly perturbed as Karen
Makeithan and Jane Mason rattle off a list of what they
want for Christmas this year. The girls seem to have lost
Santa amidst their conversation in Holly Hill Mall Shop

Faculty, students talk about
what they want this year

The Christmas season always creates a sense of excitement
for children. During the entire year, they all have tried to be
good little boys and girls, so that Santa will bring wonderful
gifts.
This year, in interviews with The Pendulum, several Elon
professors, students, and administrators have their own ideas
of great Christmas gifts.
Lela Faye Rich, associate director of academic advising,
asked for a few peaceful moments. She said, “I would like an
uninterrupted evening, when I can snuggle up in front of a fire
with a good book.”
Suzanne Stevens, area coordinator of Harper Center, asked
for a combination of gifts. Stevens said, “I want an emerald ring,
and some jeans with the white stripe along the sides, like the
ones that train engineers wear.”
She also mentioned what she doesn’t want for Christmas.
“What I don’t want for Christmas is a baby brother or sister for
my son, Paul,” said Stevens. “Just to be on the safe side,” she
said, “I’m sleeping in the rocking chair at night,”
Ronald Klepcyk, acting dean of student affairs, simply said, “I
would like a Baby Klepcyk for Christmas.”
Naola Fearrington, secretary in the office of student affairs,
said that she wanted “love, good health - and Marvin Gaye.”
Mark Albertson, registrar, had a variety of gifts in mind. At
first, he said, “I want a set of golf clubs like the ones that Rodney
Dangerfield had on Caddyshack." He continued, “I’d really like
to see my wife and two children happy and pleased with the gifts
that they receive on Christmas Day. I’m also hoping for a safe
trip to and from my visit with my parents in Pennsylvania the
following week.”
John Sullivan, philosophy professor, said that his gift came
early. “I already have what I wanted for Christmas - a new car.
This was a necessity, as well as a gift. I’d also like to get a radio
for my new car,” said Sullivan.
