Something’s going on...
Elon students set to dance
Arts Alive hits stage Saturday

All arms of the Alamance Arts
Council will participate in the Arts
Alive in Alamance set for 8 p.m.
Saturday at Cummings High School
on Sellars Mill Road in Burlington.
Arts Alive began two years ago as
part of the Arts Council’s 25th
anniversary. With such a success.
Arts Alive is performed every year
with a number of participants.
Performing Saturday will be The
Gallery Players, the Woodwind
Quintet, the Children's Theatre, the
Reader s Theatre, Image Makers,
the Alamance Chorale, and the Ala
mance Civic Dance Company.
Elon students will perform in this
event also. Vickie Home and Janet
Schroeder will be guest dancers in
the Broadway musical Cats.
Other Elon students who are
members of the Alamance Civic
Dance Company are Nigel Carlton,
Robin Agnew, Tony Lupo, Felicia
Fogieman, Ricky Ross. Tanya Car
den. Jill Goodman and Jane Well-
ford. Elon dance instructor.
The civic company will perform
four dances. Rodeo, a cowboy
ballet; Playful Adagio, a slow ballet
and modem dance solo; All Night
Long, a jazz number based on Afri-
can moves to present “break”
moves, and Cats.
Students are admitted for $3 and
general admission. S5.00.
Abernathy speaks tonight
Civil rights leader Ralph David Abernathy will speak
at 8 p.m. tonight in Whitley Auditorium. Abernathy, at
the side of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., when he was
assassinated, succeeded his friend as president of the
Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1%8.
Abernathy will help Elon College recognize Black His
tory Month.
