A three course meal will be served and chamber music played for the weekend festivities. By Tra^ IMtM Staff Writer During the summer of 1983. Dr. Cardon V. Burnham of the Elon College fine arts depart ment did extensive research on the Jacobean period, the rule of King James 1 of Great Bri tain. The result of Burnham’s re search will be a Jacobean din- ner-pageant presented here on Friday, Saturday. Sunday, at 7 p.m. on second-Hom' McEwen Dining HalL Burnham collected more than 100 pieces of authentic music from the Jacobean era. and he also wrote several scores especially for the din ner theatre. “The dinner that will be served at the pageant will be Epical of the food served dur ing the Jacobean reign.” Bur nham said. However, he added, due to time and the inability of people to eat as much as they did in the seventeenth centni;, the menu will be much less ex tensive than the 32 courses that mi^t have been served back then. After the meal, two authentk Jacobean dances will be per formed. The Pavane and Gal- liard have been choreog raphed by Pat Gray, dance in structor at Elon. with assist ance by an expert from UNC- Greensbpro in Elizabethan/ Jacobean Dance. The costumes, which were designed and made by Evelyn Miller, chief designer of dance at the North Carolina School of the Arts, will fill the stage with color and authenticity. Burnham said the dinner- theatre is light, funny, and en tertaining. yet dramatic.
