Kappa Sigma fraternity will hold its annual Halloween bash at the Lighthouse Tavern from 7 p.m. til 1 a.m. Tickets are $3.50 in advance and $4.50 at the door. If you are wearing a costume, the admission is $4. The person wearing the best costume will receive unlimited beverages for the evening. If students receive candy from home, they should save some of it for the elementary kids from the Elon Home for Children. The youngsters will come by the dorms trick-or-treating from 6-7 p.m. Those who enjoy fireworks should go to the Burlington City Park and enjoy the display begin ning at 9 p.m. Before the fireworks begin, a performance will be given by two local high school bands at City Park softball field No. 1. In addition to the band perfor mance and fireworks display, a costume contest will be held at 7:45 p.m. at the City Park amuse ment area. Registration for the contest begins at 7:30 p.m. Cash prizes will be given. For those who want to ex perience a frightful night, there are haunted houses and forests. The Burlington Jaycees will hold their annual haunted house on Huffman Mill Road across from Barbee Fabrics. The haunted house will be open from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. The admission is $2.50. The Hawfields Civitan Club will hold its annual haunted house from 7 to 10 p.m. The haunted house is located directly behind Hawfields Presbyterian Church which is at the intersection of N.C. Highway 119 and Troll- ingwood Road. The admission is $1.50. There will be a haunted forest at Snow Camp which is locatd in southern Alamance County.! will be open from 6:30 to 10 p.E and the admission is $2. Besides these activities, there will be various fraternity and sorority parties as well as private costume parties. Whether you are stayinj around the Elon campus, going 1) Burlington, or going out of town, Halloween promises to hold plen ty of treats as well as a few tricks. Williamson is nominated 0 for Marshall Scholarship Sylvia Williamson has been nominated for the prestigious Marshall Scholarship. The Elon College senior is a triple major in computer information science, mathematics and physics, plus a minor in English. She has a cumulative grade point average of 3.98. No more than 30 students will receive the Marshall Scholarships in 1985. This scholarship was established in 1953 by the government of the United Kingdom as an expression of British gratitude for the European Recovery Program or “Marshall Plan,” named for Secretary of State George C. Marshall. The purpose of the scholarship program is to enable citizens of the United States who are graduates of American colleges and univer sities to study for a degree at a university in the United Kingdom for a period of at least two academic years. Besides excelling academically, Williamson has been an active member of the Math-Computer lienee Club. She is also a member of the Construction Dance Company and a member of the Associa tion for Computing Machinery. Williamson has also helped out the college by working as a chemistry proctor, a physics lab assistant, and a computer assistant. This summer she was a student research assistant at the Holifield Heavy Ion Research Facility in Oak Ridge, Tenn. While there she helped develop equipment for a color graphics computer terminal. She is a recipient of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan ^holarship and is a member of Alpha Chi, the national academic honor society, and Sigma Tau Delta, the national English honor society.
