Softball team splits doubleheaders By Ron Jandoli Sports Editor Elon split two double headers this week in women’s softball to give the Lady Christians a 500 record after four games. On a rain drenched field at Guilford College on March 19, Elon lost the first game of a dou ble header, but came back to post a 6-4 win behind the pitching of Mia Brayboy. Elon coach Jackie Myers said, ‘Considering we played these first two games in terrible wheather conditions. I’m pleased we got at least one win out of it.‘ Myers wasn’t as pleased on March 24, when Elon traveled to Mount Olive College and split another double header. In the first game, Elon lost 12-11 in nine innings, but once again behind the pitching of Brayboy, Elon came back to win the second game 6-3. Myers felt that her team should have won boh games, but some crucial mistakes in the first game cost the Christians the game. Myers also stated, ‘Overall, I’m happy with our start and I feel that we will be very competitive this year.‘ Elon’s record stands at 2-2, 1-1 in conference play.
