Photo by Cord Finley Graduation applications are due All seniors who plan on completing their coune requirements for graduation at the end of the fall semester, winter term or spring semester must flle an ai^lication for degree in the Registrar’s Office by Oct. .31. Applications for degree may be obtained in the Registrar’s Office. Mark Albertson, registrar, is encourging seniors who have not set up an appointment with him do so immediatedly so that their academic records can be reviewed before preregistration. The procedure for filing an application is as follows: 1) The student obtains the application form along with the cap and gown request order form from the Registrar’s Office. 2)The student completes these forms and submits a payment of $22.50 to the Cashier’s Office. The cap and gown request order form is retained by the Cashier’s Office. 3)Students should then arrange to meet with the registrar to review their academic records. The ap plication for graduation is returned at that time. CROP Walk is successful By Greg L. Zaiser Staff Writer Despite temperatures in the 90s, more than 4,000 people took to the pavement last Sunday in Alamance County’s eighth annual CROP Walk. Organizers of the walk against hunger said they had received at least $98,000 in pledges from sponsors, who supported the walkers with dollar amounts for each mile they walked. Representatives of various community organizations and churches walked together, wear ing CROP T-shirts and carrying signs and banners to identify themselves. One sign read, “While we’re walking today, 2,100 people will die.” Another sign summarized the purpose of the event; “We walk because they walk.’’ Walk recruiter Steve Hickle said, “We were concerned about the heat, but I’m not aware of any weather-related problems (to walkers). I think more water was consumed at the rest stq>s; peo ple simply took another cup before beginning the next two miles.’’ The lO-mile walk began at 2 p.m. at BurUngton Memorial Stadium. The rest stops at two- mile intervals offered water and orange drinks to make the event less tiresome.
