First, 1 would like to say there are over 100 students in the com munications major and at least 50 students use the only six video cameras all semester. These students are required to use this equipment because their grades depend on its use. These cameras are used for projects for practical experience. The JMC students are trained to use this equipment. Its not so much that the LRC doesn’t trust non-JMC students, it has priori ty for the JMC students to use this equipment for practical use; not for personal use. Brett Lee Carrie Town and John Hoyle More ‘Bloom County’ wanted To the editor; I like seeing Bloom County in The Pendulum especially since it is not in the Greensboro paper. It is defmately the high point of every issue. I hope to see more Opus. Craig Smith Visitation hours, not security, neec Editor’s Note: We apologize for the error in last week’s issue. Drama professor Todd Olson was offered a part time job by the school. We are sorry for any misunderstandings. To the editor; 1 would like to bring up an issue of interest that has great impor tance and concern among Elon College students: the visitation hours. Although a lot of talk has happened about this issue, only a little has been done about the problem. Many students feel that visita tion should be extended at least two hours a day The Elon Col lege board of trustees and the Stu- BLOOM COUN TSffliESWr dent Government Association would allow this change, but there is one stipulation; Moffitt, Carolina, Virginia and West dorms would have to have people (guards) stationed in strategic places, where males would have to check in and out in order to see their female friends. The trustees and the SGA said this would be a great way to tighten security, but other college students believe this is not the right solution to the TY visitation problem. College students feel that the only thing needed is a change in visitation hours, not a change in security. It seems as though we are paying the college just to be locked up as criminals. College students should have the right to spend as much time as they want with the opposite sex, without feeling they are being babysat and punished for their actions. 1 know a few colleges with s change 24-hour visitation hours that have had no problems with such a system. I am not totally for 24-hour visitation, but I and many other Elon students think that the current policy for visitation should be extended at least two hours a day, without any stipulations.
