Campus Dining Changes
By Kelly Dolan
Staff Writer
This summer, while Elon
students enjoyed the relaxation of
vacation, the ARA staff began
making prepartions for substantial
changes in the campus food ser
vices. Among the changes are a
new non-alcoholic tavern called
the “New Back Door”and renova
tions to the Vteity Grill.
Bill Butler, director of Elon’s
ARA food services, and staff
members of the student affeirs
department had discussed work
ing together to create a campus
hangout for students. During
August, construction began in
Harper Center for the “New Back
Door”. Food, such as pizza, hot-
dogs, ice cream, subs and soft
drinks will be served, and enter
tainment provided by live bands
and a juke box.
Ed Davidson, supervisor of the
New Back Door, and 10 student
workers have made preparations
for promotional events, games
and a delivery service that will
begin on September, 7. The grand
opening has been postponed due
to lack of electricty, but the “New
Back Door” will be open seven
days a week from 4 p.m. untill 12
midnight.
“I think the Back Door is is go
ing to be the “in” place to be on
campms,” said Butler. “I just hope
the students come in, turn the
music up and get down.”
Renovations have also been
made in the \teity Grill to pro
vide the staff, faculty and com
muters with an enjoyable place to
spend their free time. The Grill’s
menu has been changed to include
house salads,sandwiches, and piz
za by the slice. New equipment
has been installed, painting is be
ing completed, and the grills at
mosphere is a modem con-
teporary decor, which will pro
vide it’s vistors with an “en-
j(^ble, relaxing atmosphere.”
says Butler.
The Grill’s hours have also
been extended to provide the col
lege with a great place to just sit
down and absorb Elon’s
atmosphere.

According to Perkins there was
“substantial evidence of drug use”
as the jewelry was never found in
any of the rooms belonging to the
fraternity brothers, but traces of
cocaine and marijuana were.
“The doors to the rooms were
open and people were wandering

who woriced for the hotel were
