The Elon College Depart-ment
of Theatre Arts will present the
Rodgers and Hammerstein
musical, "South Pacific." The
production dates back to World
War II. It deals with the issues of
war and racism.
"South Pacific" is based on the

Tales of the South Pacific by
James A. Michener.
The play will be directed by
Prof. Fred Rubeck. Rubeck says
that he chose this particular play
because he is very familiar with it.
He has played in "South Pacific"
twice. He performed as the
Professor and as Commander
Harbison.
^ Rubeck says that "South
Pacific" gives auditioners the
- opportunity to play a wide variety
of characters. The cast will
consist of 30 to 40 performers.
Auditions are open to everyone.
Students, faculty, and the
community may enjoy the
pleasure of working with each
other.
Rubcck say that auditioners may
be flexible with their talent.
South Pacific" includes scenes
• where characters may sing, dance,
and sing along with a chorus.
"South Pacific" contains funny
and popular music that audiences
will easily recognize.

Evening, I'm Younger Than
Springtime, and In Love With
