Battle of the Bands Six groups compete in annual event Kendal Rasnake The Pendulum Musicians battled, or rather played, it out for prizes at last Saturday night's Battle of the Bands. This annual event presented by the Student Union Board allowed various bands to play in competition against other bands in Whitley Auditorium for prizes. Six bands were entered in this year's event. Each band was allowed to play two to three previously selected songs of their own choice. This year's music ranged from sad blues to hard rock. The bands played to the audience of approximately 200-300 people and the ever important judges. According to one spectator, "The bands started out slow and got IMogressively better." The last band lo play. Prothers in Mark Wheeler/The Pendulum Andrew Kasab of The Bill Speers Band shows his stuff. Mark Wheeler/The Pendulum Funk, was the flnal winner in the battle. One of their songs was dedicated to the Elon College Security Team, which incorporated the theme from Dragnet. Others selections included songs about "drinking a little more" and "digging up Grandma." "Most of the bands showed good talent, but the winning band had good professionalism, stage presence and put on a good show.” said a member of the audience. ‘ *
