Brett Holland/The Pendulum Seniors must apply for graduation now Tricia Talbert The Pendulum Although graduation is still eight months away, seniors need to be thinking about it now, not later. Seniors who are planning to graduate in the fall, winter, or spring have a deadline to meet-- with no exceptions. Applications for graduation must be filled out by Oct. 11, according to Registrar Mark Albertson. Applications are available in the Registrar's office and should be filled out legibly to ensure that spelling is correct on the diploma. After the application is completed, a graduation fee of $35 is paid to the cashiers office. Once the fee is paid, an appointment with Albertson is necessary to make sure all of the requirements for graduation have been met. "So far I have met and interviewed 265 students," Albertson said. "1 anticipate interviewing between 650 and 700 people. At this point I have about 400 more to go and time is running out I encourage everyone to get all of this done now and not to wait until the last minute." The Provost's office will be sending out letters to all seniors during the late spring with final See Seniors, Page 10 . Rash of break-ins reported Jennifer Stine The Pendulum This past weekend 13 automobile break-ins were reported to the Elon Police Department. Four of the break-ins involved larcenies. The break-ins occurred between 11 p.m. Friday evening and 4 a.m. Sunday morning. The cars were parked along East Lebanon Ave. adjacent to Barney, Brannock and Hook dorms. The stolen items included $2,500 worth of band equipment, cassette tapes and small amounts of money. Elon College Police Chief Dan Ingle says it's evident the perpetrators were looking for easily accessible valuables and money. The break-ins totaled an estimated $1,400 damage, not including the property stolen. Sec Break-ins, Page 10 17 students elected to S.G.A. Jacki Roberts The Pendulum The Student Government Association held elections for freshman class officers, and senate members Tuesday and Wednesday. The position of secretary/treasurer was available for the senior class, along with five upperclass senate positions. Voter turn-out was exceptional according to the coordinators of the elections. S.G.A. president Carter Smith commented, "Close to 400 people voted, (among the freshman class) and I think that’s great!" One botch in the freshman election was the error of adding See Elections, Page 10
