The proc^ds will go toward improving the library, LaRose Resources Center and the Media Services Dqrartmem. The fund raising effort has been organized and run Chapter 91, members of last May’s graduating class. Members of Chapter 91 began calling their classmates early in the spring semester. The goal for the program is to get 250 members of last May’s gr^uating class to donate $100. Drew Van Horn, director of parent relations, said that fund raising effort began last spring in the form of phonathons and a direct mail campaign. Van Horn went on to say that the money would be invested at a rate similar to the school’s endowment Five percent of the annual interest will go to the library fund. "We’re probably looking at new uses of technology,” says Head Librarian, A1 Jones when asked how he would spend the gift "Many of the things that students are finding most helpful in their research are in a compact disk-type of format as well as using a computer terminal or a micnrfilm-microfichc format" Jones’ comments reflect the fact that books are getting rarer as new technologies develop. Jim Bush, a member of the class of 1991 and now an assistant Rob Whiteside/The Pendulum director of Alumni-Parent Relations, says that class members have the option of taking up to four years to pay their $100 pled^. Bush says that some members of the class of 1991 are choosing to contribute more than $100 while others are choosing to contribute less. So far the fund has $13,000 in it. Organizers say there is no limit on how much money the library can receive.
