DeeDee Carowan The Pendulum Elon's Department of Theatre Arts will open its 1991-92 season with lively dance and vocal numbers in its production of the musical. Fiddler on the Roof. A cast of over 50 students, faculty, and community members will perform Thursday, Oct. 31- Saturday, Nov. 2 at 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre. Fiddler is directed by Assistant Professor of Fine Arts, Fred Rubeck. "This is by far the largest scale production we've undertaken to date," said Rubeck. Catherine McNeela, assistant professor of voice, serves as musical director, Rosemary Howard, instructor of dance, as choreographer, and John Drtina, assistant professor of fine arts, as scene and lighting designer. Elon's production of Fiddler also features guest Equity actOT, P.T. Kerr, in the lead role of Tcvye. Kerr has woiiced consistently throughout the United States on national tours and oiT braadway. Fiddler is set during the eve of the Russian revolutionary period in the Russian village of Anatevka.
